Our camping adventures at Prarie Creek
This was a 7.5 hour trip to the Redwood National Forest covering 322 miles. Our mission was to see the "lost coast" with the kids. It was an ambitious undertaking made more challenging by the twists and turns of the Redwood Highway. The drive thru the mountains added 2 unexpected hours to our journey.
Once there, we set up camp and ate in and around the campfire. We saw some cool wild animal exhibits at the visitors' center the following morning. We make our way thru some dunes to get to the warm and beautiful Gold Bluffs beach, watched quietly as Roosevelt elks grazed on the meadows, hiked in and out of the scenic Fern Canyon and walked amongst giant coastal redwoods.
On the way home, we came across this 315 tall giant sequoia tree in Leggett,CA called the Chandelier Tree. We had a nice picnic by the lake and made it home in time for work and school on Monday morning.
